spring breaking

My new goal is to write in here a lot more. Even if it's just a little bit, there's still so much that I see and want to remember (usually people-watching on the subway). Expect entries to be vignette-style for a little while.

On the subway, Potter & I saw a guy drop a cup of coffee (Really? If you set it on the seat next to you, it will spill.)- it pooled around his feet while we were sitting in the station. As the train pulled out, I giggled as fingers of coffee raced towards the rear of the car and other riders hurriedly picked up their bags. Through the tunnel, I watched the coffee drips darken the floor, lightly sloshing around. As we pulled into the next station and the cars screeched to a halt, I laughed even more as all of the coffee came flying forward again. I could have made a game out of it, but it was our stop.

I wandered Soho for a few hours today and was amazed at how many cast iron facades there are. Many are stamped at the column bases with the manufacturers that made them a century ago (preservation research heaven!). I'm also now a self-proclaimed cornice fanatic, and am snapping pictures of interesting ones all the time with the intent of putting together a glorious all-cornice album soon. I got mistaken for a tourist today by a saleslady (in a weird custom-made-$200-tropical-tunic store) and took pleasure in telling her no, I'm not a tourist, I"m a photographer. Boo-yeah.

Brooklyn Flea proved fun as always this weekend. Got a funky antique key with a clover-shaped top and am now on the hunt for appropriate string/ribbon/something to make a fab necklace. Consequenly, came up empty-handed at a tacky (but extensive!) bead shop in Herald Square.

My legs ache from wandering, but tomorrow I'm off to the Cloisters to see this treasure, among others. Then at night it's Radio Lab with Zoe Keating. nbd.

Looking forward to your renewed blogging. Little vignettes are good.

Nice! Love the attitude you gave the saleslady. You ARE a photographer!
